Josephine P. Meleen, 93, of 157 Second St., Youngsville, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Rouse Warren Co. Home.
She was born March 24, 1919 in James City, PA, a daughter of the late Michael and Julia Pokosh. She was a member of the Saron Lutheran Church and a member of the Eastern Star #478 in Youngsville, where she had served as past Worthy Matron and past District Deputy Grand Matron. Josephine enjoyed her Eastern Star events, her family and friends, bowling, traveling and very much enjoyed being a member of the Four Fun Eight Card Club.
She is survived by her children; Beverly Moore of Irvine, John (Connie) Meleen of Chandlers Valley, and her special children, Ingrid and Jim Fitzgerald of Youngsville, a brother Basil (Leah) Pokosh, grandchildren; Cheryl Barr, Bradley Shattuck, Michele (Barry) Zurcher, Shannon Moore, Christopher Meleen, Casey Meleen, Alicia(Rick) Conner and Andrew (Nicole) Fitzgerald, 17 great-grandchildren, and 11 great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert Meleen Jr., who died in 1994, and 7 siblings.
Friends will be received on Saturday (March 31) from 4-7 PM at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St. in Youngsville. Members of the Eastern Star will conduct their Ritual at 6:45 PM at the Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 1:30 PM at the Saron Lutheran Church in Youngsville with the Rev. Mark Fisher, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Youngsville Cemetery.
