Arlene M. Hotchkiss, 81, of 2112 Sutton Rd., Sugar Grove, died Tuesday January 3, 2012 at her residence after a long battle with cancer.

She was born June 8, 1930 in Lisbon, OH, a daughter to the late Sidney and Ruth (Hildebrand) DeRemer.  Arlene was a 1948 graduate of Sugar Grove High School, and an active member of the Wrightsville Community Church, serving on many committees, including hospitality, prayer chains and many of the dinners that were served. She had her hand in everything that was going on at church.  She loved gardening, her flowers, reading, shopping, corresponding with many of her friends, and traveling.  Arlene and her husband were avid fans of the group Country Conversion and followed then around faithfully. She was a strong influence to her family and will be missed dearly by them.

Arlene is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Gale Hotchkiss, whom she married August 14, 1949 in Chandlers Valley, her 5 children, Steven (Jean) Hotchkiss, Sugar Grove, Susan (Bob) Wells of Johnsonburg, Pa., Sidney (Anita) Hotchkiss, Centerville, Pa., Sandra (Bill) Miller, and Vennie Hotchkiss, both of Sugar Grove, 4 brothers, Ivan DeRemer of Sugar Grove, Karl DeRemer, N. Warren, Edward DeRemer, Chandlers Valley, and  Larry (Angela) DeRemer of South Carolina, a sister Donna (George) Peterson of Ashville, NY, 5 grandchildren, James Miller, Albert (Missy) Wells, Kellie (Mark) Shields, Brittany Hotchkiss, Nathan Hotchkiss, 3 step great grandchildren and a great grandchild to be expected soon.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 21, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Wrightsville Community Church with the pastor Kenneth Morris officiating.  Burial will be in the Chandlers Valley Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Warren Co., 2 Crescent Park, Warren, Pa. 16365 or to the Wrightsville Community Church, P.O. Box 105, Pittsfield, Pa. 16340.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Arlene Hotchkiss.
She is in a better place with no pain and watching over you. Yes,
you are sad at her passing but you have all the memories, love, and
family and friends to keep you going. My best memory is when she
taught me how to milk a cow. She smiled and said "Now that wasn''''t
so hard. Keep the memories going!
