Leland Bud McChesney, 77, formerly of North Warren, Pennsylvania, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 in De Pere, Wisconsin surrounded by his family.

Leland was born on October 9, 1935 on Sutton Hill in Deerfield Township to Mabel Rhoades and Leland Stanford McChesney. Leland grew up in Torpedo, PA and graduated from Youngsville High School in 1953 where he excelled in football, basketball, and track.  After high school, Leland attended Lock Haven University.  He served in the Unites States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1957 - 1959.  After serving his country, Leland moved to Buffalo, NY where he was employed by the Ford Stamping Plant.  After working there for two years, he moved back to PA.  There he was employed by the National Forge located in Irvine, PA.  Leland retired from the National Forge after working there for over thirty years.  In 1967, Leland married Dorothy Budzik and raised their family.

“Bud”, as he was known by those who knew and loved him, will be best remembered as a sweet and gentle man who thought of others first.  He was a loving and caring father who always had a smile and hello for those he knew and met along the way.  His detailed stories of “the good old days” while growing up in Torpedo and Corry, laced with his sense of humor and contagious laugh, will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his three children Jennifer McChesney Wisecup and her son Jacob Leland Wisecup, Julie McChesney Stiles and husband Christopher Stiles and their two children Andrew Leland Stiles and Addison Michelle Stiles, and Jeffrey Leland McChesney, two brothers, Richard (Patty) McChesney and Fred (Anne)  McChesney, a sister, Mary (Denny) McChesney Schmader and a sister-in-law Joyce McChesney.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his sister Jeanette McChesney, and a brother William McChesney.

Friends will be received on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St. in Youngsville, Pa. A vigil service will be conducted at the funeral home at 3:45 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, with the Rev. Fr. Richard J. Toohey, pastor, officiating.    Burial will follow in the Sutton Corner’s Cemetery.

The family has set up a memorial in his name: Salvation Army, 311 Beech St, Warren, PA 16365 or the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.

To Uncle Bud's Family,

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Bud. I will always remember him as a kind, gentle man, who seemed to really enjoy life. One of the last times I saw Uncle Bud was at Aunt Joyce's golf course - he was having fun just hanging out with my Dad and having a few hot dogs. It was a good day, and one I will always remember him by.

Love,
Todd, Kate, Samuel, David and Megan McChesney

I didn't know Bud, but I felt a certain affinity with him, because my parents moved from North Warren to DePere WI also.

Your family is in my thoughts.

Our deep sympathy to you and your family on the passing of your dad, your father-in-law, your grandfather, and your friend. Julie, you have been a loving and attentive daughter, a role model for others. You and Chris have taken great care of Bud, and I am very sure he appreciated your attention more than you will ever know. Thinking of you!
