Barbara J. McCrea, 70, of Olean, NY, and formerly of Youngsville and Warren, passed away Saturday December 26, 2015 at the Olean General Hospital.

She was born March 22, 1945 in Kane, PA, a daughter to the late Robert and Inella (Bulicz) Nelson. Barb had worked as a nurse’s aide for many nursing homes and also at the Dept. of Human Services in Warren.  She also volunteered at various animal shelters and for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed swimming, canoeing and boating. Barb loved all animals, and would take in any stray animal, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two children;Lisa (Matthew) Austin of Phenix City, AL, Robert McCrea of Olean, NY, a sister Carol (Don) McCrea of Tucker, GA, and her eight grandchildren, Cade McCrea, Kegan McCrea, Caitria Snook, Corbin Waldron, Kaia Waldron, Charity Waldron, Chayton Waldron, and Abby Austin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gary McCrea.

Per Barb’s wishes, no visitation or services will be held at this time.

Prayers and much love to you and your family. Olivia asked me last year at Christmas when my father passed away why God takes papa's at Christmas time. I told her because God needs special angels at this time of year. Your mom was special too. She had to be, she was YOUR MOM.
