Stanley N. Meleen, Jr., of Sugar Grove passed away peacefully on March 15, 2019 at the home of his daughter, Crystal Meleen Keats, in Great Falls, VA.

He was born on January 18, 1929 in Frewsburg, NY, son to the late Stanley and Cora Meleen.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Gladys Abbott Meleen, whom he married on October 7, 1950.
.
Stan was a proud Army veteran who was honored to serve his country in both World War II and the Korean War and to be a member of the Sugar Grove Post of the American Legion.  He retired from Penn Dot where he represented employees as a union steward for many years.  Stan was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.  He served the Church in various roles, including Trustee and loved fundraising at Sugar Grove Sales Days.

Soon after he moved to Sugar Grove in 1950, he began working at Stateline Speedway where he developed a love for racing that never ended and where he enjoyed the camaraderie of working with his close friends, including Red Brown and Marv Thorpe.  He enjoyed road trips (even with kids), camping with friends and family, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Stan is survived by his children Debbie (and Bill) Hirsch of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Crystal Meleen Keats of Great Falls, VA, and Jim Meleen and his companion Linda Falconer of Warren, PA; his grandchildren Rebecca Williams of Tampa, FL, Justin Troxell of Port St. Lucie, FL and Aaron Hirsch of South Lake Tahoe; his great grandchildren Chase, Grayson and Gavin Williams, and Shaniah Caldwell, Isaiah Caldwell and his companion Sheli Joy Martinez and their son Braven; and his two brother-in-laws Richard Abbott of Long Pond, PA and Richard Larsen of Frewsburg, NY.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Gladys and his son, Jeffrey Meleen; his son-in-law John Keats; his sisters and brothers Janice Cartner, Elizabeth Intihar, Elaine Larsen, Arcelia Trossauer, Gwendolyn Waterhouse, John Meleen, George Waid and Walter Waid; and his bother-in-law Marion Abbott.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church from 4-7pm and also for 1 hour prior to the 11:00am funeral service held there on Thursday, March 21, 2019, with the Rev. Shelia Auer officiating. Burial to follow at Wesleyan Cemetery in Sugar Grove.

So sorry for the loss of Stan. He was such a good friend and neighbor. I will miss jumping on my 4 wheeler and driving up the other hill for a quick visit with Gladdy and Stan. Their presence are missed by many. Love to their family at this time of sorrow.
