Carol Dorothy Schmitt, 87, formerly of Youngsville, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022, in Port St. Lucie, Fl.
She was born in Buffalo, NY, to the late Dorothy and Glenn Churchill on November 1, 1934. Carol attended the Public School 60 and Graduated from Riverside High School in 1952. In 1951, she and her parents moved next door to Frank M. Schmitt in the Black Rock section of Buffalo, a couple blocks for the Erie Canal and the Niagara River. She and Frank were married on September 10, 1952 at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church. In 1960, Frank was hired as a pilot by Allegheny Airlines which evolved into USAir, then USAirways. They lived in Berea, OH, about 2 miles from the Cleveland Airport for 6 years, where both Donna Jean was born on October 31, 1963, and Michael Glenn on July 2, 1966. That same year, the family moved to Beaver Falls, PA, where Frank flew out of the Pittsburgh Airport Base. Today, both children live in Florida and work for USAirways/American- Donna as a Flight Attendant and Michael as a pilot. When her husband retired in 1992, they moved to Pittsfield township, in Warren County. Previous to that, they owned a camp on the same road and she fell in love with the area. Throughout her life, Carol enjoyed hunting and fishing, raising the children, gardening, knitting, crocheting and the usual homemaking chores. At one time she was active in the Triangle and the Eastern Star.
Carol is survived by her daughter Donna(George) and son Michael(Cathy); and 2 grandchildren, Brandon, and Mikey.
