Cooper Jay Groves, 17, of Sugar Grove, PA, passed away on Saturday night, October 14, 2023 at UPMC Children’s Hospital.
He was born on September 13, 2006, in Warren, PA, a son to Jay and Jobie (Edwards) Groves who both survive him of Sugar Grove, PA. Cooper attended Warren Area High School. He was more affectionately known as Superman and Super Cooper. He enjoyed going to the races and cheering for his big brother, Nolan, babysitting the grandmas, supervising in the garage and being with friends and family as much as possible. He had a gift of being able to brighten anyones day with his beautiful smile and contagious laugh. He was such an amazing young man who will be missed by so many.
In addition to his parents, Cooper is also survived by his brother, Nolan Groves; his maternal grandparents, Mina Edwards of Sugar Grove, PA, Jay Anderson of Jamestown, NY and Vern & Theresa Edwards of Fort Ann, NY; his paternal grandparents, Terri Robbins of Sugar Grove, PA and Paul & Nancy Groves of Youngsville; great-grandparents, Shirley Robbins of Busti, NY, Izzy Groves of Sugar Grove, PA and Shirley Ransom of Warren, PA; his aunts and uncles, Kelli & Dave Shagla of Sugar Grove, PA, Justin & Jennifer Edwards of Queensbury, NY, Jake Edwards of Texas and “Uncle” Paul Beedle of Sugar Grove, PA; his cousins, Maya, Paige and Layla Edwards, Raegon and Mikael Beaver and Halley Shagla all of Sugar Grove, PA.
He was preceded in death by his Great Grandparents, Merrill Robbins, Raymond Groves, Lawrence & Peg Abbott, Patricia Anderson and Gary Ransom.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to “Smiles By Cooper” Fund at Key Bank by walking in or sending to the family. This fund is so people could make random acts of kindness to make people smile in honor of Cooper and his ability to brighten the day. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, 179 Davis Street, Youngsville, PA 16371, from 4-8pm and also on Saturday, October 21 from 10-11:30am at which time a funeral service will be held there with Cooper’s cousin Alex Johnson, officiating. A private burial will take place in Turnpike Cemetery in Sugar Grove, PA.
