Gail H. Anderson

Gail H. Anderson, 74, of Russell, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his home.

He was born on September 6, 1948, a son to the late Herbert and Jane (Brown) Anderson. Gail worked as a custodian for the WCSD. He was a member of the Russell VFD for 45 years, joining in 1970 and held many titles, including, 1st and 2nd lieutenant, 1st and 2nd captain, 2nd assistant, 1st assistant and then chief for many years. Gail was a field instructor and trainer for the National Fire Academy and taught fire schools across the state. He served as Director of the Warren County Fire school from its inception until a few years ago. Gail also served as the head of the county’s ALL Hazard team from its inception until the county disbanded it in 2022.

He is survived by his children, Michele (Donald) McClary of FL, Kimberly (Michael) Dexter of Warren, Herb (Kim) Anderson of Sugar Grove, and Corrine Dennison of Russell; a sister, Kathy (Greg) Trisket of Warren; his grandchildren, Donald McClary Jr, Brenda McClary, Paige Dexter, Alanah Dernoski, Austin Anderson, Haleigh Anderson, Kalli (Joseph) Lynch, Gracie Tomassoni, Dylan Dennison, Clayton Dennison and Colyn Dentler; his great-grandchildren, Layla McCrary, McKenzie Dernoski and Nolan Derenzo and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gail was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra (Black) Anderson.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 22, from 3-6pm at the Youngsville VFD, 29 Fireman Dr. Youngsville, PA 16371. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday at 11am with a family friend, Brenda Zock, officiating. Burial will follow in Warren County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations may be made to the Youngsville Volunteer Fire Department.
