Gary D. Hunter

Gary D. Hunter, 72, of Sugar Grove, passed away May 8th, 2022, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Warren.

He was born on July 30, 1949 in Alexandria Bay, NY, to the late Roy and Cathleen Hunter. Gary was a 1968 graduate of Alexandria Bay High School and after graduation, he immediately joined the United States Navy, serving from 1968-1970. After serving in the Navy, he went to work at Cummings in Jamestown, retiring after 31 years. Gary was a member of the Sugar Grove AMVETS post 50, and the Youngsville American Legion Post 658, and was a member of the Youngsville American Legion Honor Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and mowing his yard. 

Gary is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nancy; his son Brandon; daughter Erin; step-sons Biff and Brett Olson.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Dennis Hunter.

Per Gary’s wishes, there will be no visitation. There will be a graveside funeral with Military Honors on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00am,  at the Wesleyan Cemetery, Sugar Grove. Donations may be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave. Warren, PA. 16365.
