Harold A. Simons Sr., 89, of Tidioute, PA, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Titusville Area Hospital after a brief illness.
Harold was born on October 17, 1933 in Bradford, PA, to the late Miles and Kathleen Simons.
After joining the United States Air Force, he served in Korea and Okinowa, and later in the
National Guard. Harold worked as a lathe operator at the National Forge in Irvine, retiring at the
age of 62. He was very active in many organizations and clubs, most notably the Tidioute VFW,
both the Youngsville and Tidioute American Legions, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Boy Scouts and Little League.
Spending time with his family was important to him. He is survived by his wife, Carol, whom he
married on May 12, 1961 in North Warren; his children, Sabrina (Gary) Barnes of Warren, Lisa
Curtis of Jamestown, NY, Harold (Holly) Simons of Youngsville, Miles (Beverly) Simons of
Tidioute, Daryl Simons of Tidioute, and Jessie (Jim) Matie of Warren; 17 grandchildren; 25
great-grandchildren, his sister in laws, Janet Cooper of Greer, SC, Merle Wingard of Erie and Karen Fors of Youngsville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his siblings, Merton Simons, Marian Kerstetter,
and Audrey Campbell.
Friends will be received at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St. Youngsville, PA 16371 on Tuesday, March 21, from 4-7pm. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Chief Cornplanter Council, Boy Scouts of America, 316 4th Ave. Warren, PA 16365.
