John M. Kuzmin Jr. Obituary

John Kuzmin, 86, of Pittsfield, PA, has gone on to his heavenly home. He passed away at Kinzua Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center on May 5, 2025.


John M. Kuzmin,Jr., known as “Jack” to family and friends, was born in Erie to John and Marian (Anselment) Kuzmin, on October 18th 1938. He grew up on the East Side of Erie. Most of his early days were spent near the BayFront where he could be seen fishing, duck hunting or spending time with friends. John graduated from East High where he excelled in swimming. After working briefly for a landscaper, he became an apprentice at General Electric and attended night school there. Upon graduating from the course, John moved to Pittsfield and was employed at National Forge in Irvine, PA for over 35 years. He was a member of Hessel Valley Lutheran Church in Chandler’s Valley, PA where he served on the church council and volunteered in many capacities, one of which was carefully maintaining the lawn.


Surviving John are his wife, Mary Ann (Egbert) Kuzmin; his sister, Kathleen Kuzmin; his niece, Frances Fomich, his daughters, Kimberly (Frank) Lewis, Kristine Csicsek, Janet (James) Fehlman, Jennifer (Patrick) Cummings; his grandchildren, Nate Lewis, Emily Lewis, John Csicsek, Anne (Jeff) Shaw, Margaret (Kurt) Swartz, Leigh Fehlman, Mikhyle Fehlman, Bella Cummings and 2 great grandchildren. Also surviving are step children, Steven (Sherry) Egbert, Suzanne (John) Davis, Charles (Cathleen) Egbert; eleven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.


John was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Anna Bell Hayes Kuzmin, known to friends as Ann Kuzmin and his sister, Karen (Ray) Fomich. Jack treasured many things in life but none more than his truck, his boat, and his annual fishing trip to Canada with his friend “Butch” Jenkins and others. Jack’s family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during his illness.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8th at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church, 166 Hessel Valley Rd, Chandlers Valley, PA 16312, from 9am-11am at which time a funeral service will be held there with Rev. Jeff Canter, pastor of the Pittsfield Otterbein Global Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Youngsville Cemetery.
