Jon Druggan Obituary

Jon Joseph Druggan, 80, of Tidioute, PA, succumbed to his 4 month struggle with lung cancer on December 10, 2023.

Jon was born Dec. 1st, 1943, to Stephen and Stella Wojtowicz Druggan and was raised in Tidioute where he attended Tidioute High School and began his lifelong love of trucks, tractors and heavy equipment of all varieties.

Jon left Tidioute to attend Nashville Auto/Diesel Mechanics College and polished his skills.

Back to Tidioute, he worked for Heenan Trucking until he found his calling with the Operating Engineers and on-the-road construction. His notable jobs in his 40 years included the Kinzua Dam and Reservoir, and resurfacing of it years later, the Pittsburgh Airport, the Kentucky Toyota Plant, and multiple road jobs across Pennsylvania. Jon’s skills and his work ethic led to constant demand.

In 1965 he married Candace Atkin and they had 2 children, Erica (Fulmer) and Stephen.

When Jon retired from on-the-road construction he continued to mechanic and “tinker”, helping where needed. He always believed in the value of mentoring, he had several, and he mentored many.

Jon was a lifetime member of the Tidioute Volunteer Fire Company and spent many hours contributing at the recycling center. He always believed everything had at least a second life.

Jon was well traveled and loved a road trip, but Tidioute was always home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved daughter, and most of his extended family.

He is survived by his wife, Candace, son, Stephen (Pia), son-in-law, Dr. Brant Fulmer, grandsons, Kilian and Alec Druggan and Max and Leo Fulmer, sisters-in-law, Grace Cross and Marjorie Yeager, brother-in-law, John Stewart, Aunt, Wanda Maloney, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

On Sat. Dec. 16, 2023 the family will welcome friends and loved ones from 3-4:30 PM at the Tidioute VFD, 228 Main St, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 4:30 with the Rev. Ralph Culp, officiating.
