Leroy “Lee” David Darling, 81, of Sugar Grove, PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Jamestown, NY on April 22, 1944, a son to the late Roy and Lois (Olsen) Darling. Lee went to Chandlers Valley Elementary and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1962. He then joined the United States Navy and attended ET School at Great Lakes Illinois and was assigned to the USS San Pablo, an oceanographic survey ship mapping the North Atlantic. Eventually, Lee was hire by Xerox as a technician and worked for them until retirement. He married the love of his life, Joanne Allenson on December 29, 1963. Lee was a member of the AMVETS post #50, the Sugar Grove American Legion Post #758 and the Vikings Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and tending to his garden. His memory will be cherished and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Lee is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joanne (Allenson) Darling, his sons, Scott (Leanne) Darling of Newburgh, IN and Craig (Amber) Darling of Sugar Grove; his grandchildren, Nick (Pate) Darling of Austin, TX, Jared Darling and his fiancé Kayla Haley, of Newburgh, IN, Samantha Darling and her significant other, Logan Black and Lilly and Curt Darling all of Sugar Grove, PA.

In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his sister, Joy Darling and his grandson, Scott Darling Jr.

A celebration of life will be held on August 9th from 1-3pm at the Sugar Grove AMVETS Post #50, 3838 Stoney Run Rd, Sugar Grove, PA 16350.
