Marilyn H. (Harner) Spear

Marilyn H. Spear, 95, passed away Saturday, August 6 at the Rouse Home, Youngsville, Pa.  She was a former resident of Chandlers Valley, Pa.

Marilyn was born in Jamestown, New York on May 11, 1927, a daughter to the late Yngve and Geneva Harner.  She was a 1945 graduate of Jamestown High School.  Marilyn was a U. S. Postmaster serving at both the Chandlers Valley and Sugar Grove post offices for many years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Zonta and the Hill and Dale Garden Club.

Surviving are her 6 children, Judy Haller (John) of Jamestown, Susan Merritt (Merle) of Warren Pa, Marcia Briggs (Roger) of Ephrata, Washington, Ronald Spear (Lynne) of Chandlers Valley, Pa, Daniel Spear (Joyce) of Rochester, NY; her step-daughter, Chris George (Alan) of Memphis, TN; her 12 grandchildren,  Alex Moore, Carley Moore, Eric Briggs, Gary Briggs, Mark Briggs, Lori Moore, Katy Briggs, Greg Briggs, Jason Spear, Chelsea Clark and Hillary Spear and 21 great grandchildren.  

Marilyn is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Richard Johnson, formerly of Ashville, NY. She is also the oldest of a group of first cousins with whom she maintained a special relationship:  Richard, Donna, Beverly, Carol and Dorothy.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Spear, a brother, Robert Harner, a sister, Patricia Swanson and a step-mother and best friend, Mildred Harner and a daughter in law, Ellen Spear.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave., Warren, Pa 16365 or the Sugar Grove Free Library, 22 Harmon Street, Sugar Grove, Pa 16350. 

A private burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
