Marilyn Y. (Schnell) Walter

Marilyn Yvonne “Vonnie” Walter, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023 in Youngsville, PA. She was born the daughter of the late Isadore and Elvira “Vera” Schnell on February 24, 1932. Vonnie spent her entire life on Davis Street in Youngsville where she was a member of the Saron Lutheran Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Firemen’s Auxiliary. She was married to the love of her life, Raymond Walter, on November 10, 1950, who preceded her in death on July 23, 2020. Most of her life she enjoyed working as a homemaker. Vonnie’s last employment was as a secretary for the Youngsville TV Corp.

She is survived by her daughters, Patty (Todd) Briggs of Bemus Point, NY, Cindy (Mark) Nyquist of Youngsville, PA and Debbie (Randy) Gustafson of Bloomsburg, PA and ten grandchildren, Carrie (Brad) Kurtzman, Chris (Steve) Sellstrom, Brodie Briggs, Tim (Lindsay) Nyquist, Todd (Noel) Nyquist, Tammi Shippee, Mandi (Mike) Ross, Brandon (Jess) Gustafson, Ashlee (Chris) Locke and Jennee (Tom) Coombe. She was also blessed and proud to tell everyone about having 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Vonnie is also survived by a brother, Victor Schnell of Lakewood, NY and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Vonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years and her brothers, Claire and Marlin Schnell.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22 at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St. Youngsville, PA 16371, from 11-11:30am at which time a funeral will be held there with the Rev. Rick Hamrick, pastor of the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, officiating. A private burial will take place in Warren County Memorial Park.
