We also appreciate the compassionate care from Hospice personnel.

Nancy was born on February 26, 1954 to her parents William P. (Bill) and Donna M. Johnson. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister to her family. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas Nansen, of Tidioute. Their children are Julie and her husband, David Chase, Youngsville, PA, parents to Ryan and Sadie; Amy and her husband,Cassidy Chase, Leesport, PA, parents to Paige and Cameron; and Nicholas and his wife, Ashley Nansen, Tidioute, PA, parents to Nora, Maggie, and James. Nancy is also survived by her father, Bill Johnson, of Tidioute, currently residing at the Rouse Home, her brother, Lynn and his wife Loretta Johnson, Tidioute; her brother, Tom Johnson, Tidioute; her sister, Sue and husband Jack Shields, Tidioute; and her brother, Mark and his wife Terri Johnson of Middle River, MD.

She was the best aunt ever to many nieces and nephews, and has a lot of cousins that childhood memories were created with and will never be forgotten. She was a proud and loving Grandma, doing all that she could for her special ones.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Johnson. nephew, Billy Johnson, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bruce and Lois Nansen.

Nancy graduated with honors with the Class of 1972, Tidioute High School. She continued her education at Bryant and Stratton College, Buffalo, NY, earning a Business Degree. She worked at Northwest Engineering in Tidioute, and the National Forge in Irvine, before her adventurous spirit and determination caused her to pack her car and do a road trip to Arizona. She returned to Pennsylvania to gather the rest of her belongings, and had every intention of becoming a permanent Arizona resident. While there, Nancy joined the workforce of Maricopa County as an office professional, and met Tom, the love of her life, and they got married on April 10, 1976 in Tidioute, PA. Raising their children began in Tidioute and later they relocated to Youngsville.

They have a great group of friends that will forever remember the friendship, kids' sporting events, holiday parties, and camping adventures shared with Tom and Nancy and their family. Nancy adapted to anything she tried. She worked in the mail department of Northwest Bank, and was also a school bus driver for Warren Head Start program. She loved growing flowers and was a master of many crafts. Grandma Johnson taught Nancy and Sue how to sew before they entered 1st grade, a skill that remained throughout their lives, always creating Halloween costumes, sometimes to their children's dismay, who were required to wear them. Nancy carried a tape measure and sketch pad in her purse, and secretly would make a quick diagram of an interesting item seen at a craft show. Always the frugal one, she made it herself, better and cheaper. Tom and Nancy loved camping, swimming, waterskiing, and relaxing by the water. They had unwritten rules of camping, you start on Memorial Day and never quit before Labor Day. The colder the weather, the bigger the campfire.

Alzheimer's disease crept in slowly out of nowhere and for reasons we will never understand, but progressed for nearly 20 years, and eventually took Nancy from us, way too early. Nancy battled the disease fiercely, at every new and different stage. We cried and we laughed at times. She brought a dynamic to the Alzheimer's Care Unit they had never seen. She was young and had a lot of energy. Her caregivers and fellow residents grew to love her, and for that we will forever be thankful.

Nancy was a friend to everyone who was privileged to have known her. Our family has the precious memories to keep in our hearts of her time with us, and her loving spirit will never leave us.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family, who thank the kind personnel of the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services and the Reverend Ralph Culp for their assistance.

Nancy's final resting place will be the Swedish Union Cemetery in Tidioute, PA. Those wishing to remember Nancy may do so by a contribution to a charity of their choice, Alzheimer's Association, Hospice of Warren County, or a memorial donation to the Swedish Union Church and Cemetery Association.
