Norene M. (Konkle) Brown

Norene M. “Tootie” Brown, 97, of Tidioute, PA, passed away on December 13, 2022, at Titusville Area Hospital.

Tootie was born on August 25, 1925 in Tidioute, to George and Alice (McCellan) Konkle. She started work at the Tidioute Public Library in 1974 and retired in 2000. Tootie always had great recommendations for the best books and was eager to help foster the love of reading. She loved to travel and go on adventures with her husband, Bill, whom she married September 16, 1944 in Alabama. Along with her love of books, she enjoyed whitewater rafting, riding hot air balloons, and on her 80th birthday she was able to ride a glider. She was also an active member of the Tidioute Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the VFW ladies Auxiliary and served on the Public Library Board.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Cheryl) Brown of Grand Valley, PA and William (Susan) Brown of Grand Valley, PA; her grandsons, Nathan (June) Brown, Ty (Tracey) Brown and Chase Brown and his companion, Jacinta Reese; 6 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Tootie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her brothers, Harold and William Konkle and a great-granddaughter, Audrie in 2004.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the Tidioute Presbyterian Church, 196 Main St. Tidioute from 11-12pm, at which time a memorial service will take place for both Tootie and her husband Bill, with the Rev. Dennis Ledebur, pastor,  officiating. 

Memorial donations may be made in Tootie’s name to the Tidioute Public Library, 197 Main St. Tidioute, Pa 16350.
