Raymond A. Bower Sr., 91, of Youngsville, PA, passed away on February 18, 2024 at the Rouse Warren County Home.
He was born in Pittsfield, PA on November 23, 1932, a son to the late Thomas and Eunice (Gibson) Bower. Ray served in United States Army during the Korean War. He was a steel worker and attended the New Life Church in Youngsville, previously the EUM Church. Ray was a member of the Warren Eagles Club #313 and the Youngsville American Legion #658. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and spending time at camp, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Caroline (Baker) Bower, who he married on August 4, 1958 in Millsport, PA; his children, Raymond (Marie) Bower Jr. of Roseharon, TX, Diane Bower of Youngsville and Ralph (Nancy) Bower of Clairton, PA; his grandchildren, Tyson, Justin, America, Vergil Jr., Brandon, Benjamin, Dalton, Amanda, Jenna and Amber; many great grandchildren and his siblings, Ralph Bower of Youngsville, PA, Richard (Karen) Bower , Nancy Bower of Warren, Shirley Riley of VA, Betty Leichner and Albert (Faith) Bower, both of Jamestown, NY.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his children, Amy Jo Courson and Claude Bower; his brothers, Robert, Kenneth, Arthur and Donald Bower and his sisters, Marge Zink, Patricia Johnson and Marci Spear.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N Main Street, Youngsville, PA 16371, from 11am-1pm at which time a funeral service will be held there with the Rev. Rick Hamrick, pastor of the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, officiating. The Youngsville American Legion Honor Guard will provide full military honors.
