Ronald D. Bell, 91, of Youngsville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at the Rouse Nursing Home in Youngsville on May 14, 2026. Ron was born on September 19, 1934, in Forestville, Pennsylvania, the son of Derwood H. and Linnie J. Hockenberry Bell.

He grew up working on his family’s farm and graduated from Harrisville High School. A proud Army veteran, he served as a medic during the Korean War.

He was married to Lorraine Westley Bell for 54 years, and father to Melissa Bell and James Bell. He was grandfather to Kutler Bell, Hanna Lowden, and Bryce Lowden, each of whom brought him great joy.

After his Army service, he worked many years at Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Company. After retirement, he worked part-time at United Refinery in Warren.

He was known as a hardworking man who could always be counted on to do his job. Stubborn at times, he stood firm in his beliefs and preferred to do things his own way. But he was also the kind of person who would stop to help a stranger without hesitation. He will be remembered for riding his bike and walking just about everywhere and anywhere. He had a knack for staying busy, whether it was collecting recycling, raking or weeding with determination, or finding another task to keep his hands moving. He also enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, auctions, flea markets, and taking trails or back roads just to see where they go. His energy, persistence, and the familiar sight of him out and about will be remembered by all who knew him, especially his Dunns Eddy neighbors. He also leaves behind the stories he liked to tell, sharing bits of people and places from years gone by.

He is survived by his sister, Donna Kelly of Franklin, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven sisters and one brother.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Rouse Estate. A memorial will be held at a later date.
