Ronald A. "Wrinkle" Ringel, 82, of Tidioute, Pa, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
He was born on July 14, 1939 in Oakdale, Pa, a son to the late Arthur and Edna (Kollling) Ringel. Ron helped with the construction of the Kinzua Dam, he then went to work for several years at the Starbrick asphalt plant and then tended oil wells. Eventually, he worked for many years as a welder at the National Forge where he retired. After retiring, he had his own lawn service and very much enjoyed John Deer tractors. Ron always enjoyed making people laugh, he would say "Ok, I made you laugh today, I did my job." He loved sharing his cooking and baked goods with friends and family. One of his favorite things to do was BBQing ribs in his stone BBQ out back.
Ron was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as a member and past Eucharistic Minister at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Tidioute.
He is survived by 3 children, Shelia (Michael) Mezzacapo of Crossville, TN, John (Brandi) Ringel of Titusville, Pa and Joann Breneman and her companion, Michael Phillips, of Millsboro, DE; 7 grandchildren, Ashley (Terry) Schrader, Rachael Breneman, Courtney Breneman, Breaunna Baker, Austin Baker, Jordan Baker and Rian (Michelle) McLaughlin; 1 great-grandson, Lincoln McLaughlin and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra (Sveda) Ringel and two sisters, Jean and Irma.
Family and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday, October 27 from 4-8pm at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St., Youngsville, Pa 16371, and also from 10-11am on Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church, 25 First St., Tidioute, Pa 16351, at which time a Mass of Christian burial will take place there. The Rev. Fr. Joseph Kalinowski, pastor, and Msgr. Gerald T. Ritchie, of Our Lady of Mercy in Harbor Creek, Pa, will both be officiating. Burial will follow in St. Jacqueline's Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W 8th Street, Erie, Pa 16505.
