Stephan J. Urbanik

Stephan J. Urbanik, 94, of Pittsfield, PA passed away on January 19, 2023 at Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA.

He was born on December 23, 1928, a son to the late Joseph and Mary (Hoza) Urbanik. Steve attended Wampum High School prior to enlisting in the US Army from 1946-1947. He was an Army Tech 5 and a surveyor/topographer prior to the Korean War. After the service, Steve worked various jobs; He drove truck, was on the demolition and construction crew for the PA Turnpike and worked at Shenango Pottery. Lastly, he retired in 1990 from the National Forge where he worked in the roughing department and then as a shop security guard. Steve was a member of the Youngsville American Legion Post #658.

He loved hunting with his sons, arrowhead hunting, traveling all over the United States with his wife, Naomi, camping, gardening, wood working and making/donating handmade swings to various organizations. He also spent many hours sitting on his porch and swing talking with neighbors.

He is survived by his children, Scott (Sandra), Catherine (Jim), John (Rhonda); many grandchildren; many great grandchildren and a sister, Pauline Smith.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by loving wife, Naomi, who he married on August 30, 1957; his sisters, Mary Miley and Agnes O’Brien and his brother, Joe Urbanik.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24th at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main Street, Youngsville, PA 16371 from 11am-1pm at which time a funeral service will be held there with the Rev. Ralph Culp, officiating. The Youngsville American Legion Honor Guard will be providing military honors. A private burial will be in Youngsville Cemetery.
