Walter Charles Kick, died on Thursday, January 25, 2024 peacefully at his home in Hearts Content.
Walt was born on March 11, 1948 to Walter Kick and Katherine Smay Kick. He was a 1966 graduate of Neville Island High School.
Walt first worked for Dravo Corporation. He then became a member of the Boilermaker Union and worked in the field as a welder for Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Company. He was very proud of the work he did on liquified natural gas tanks and nuclear containment vessels. He continued his welding career transferring to the Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Company Plant in Warren PA, which later became Chicago Bridge and Iron until retirement.
Walt lived his life in the Allegheny National Forest with his wife Sandy, raising their three sons. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The family enjoyed many trips to Presque Isle for swimming and camping on the beach. He enjoyed coaching baseball and soccer. Walt was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed hiking in the forest. He will truly be missed.
Walt is survived by his wife Sandra Pferchy Kick, whom he married on November 6, 1973 and his three sons, Michael Zachery Kick, Zachary Orion Kick and his wife Louise, and Joe Walter Kick.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Judith Duff and his nephew Gary Duff.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in a wild place you enjoy, or making a donation to the USDA Plant-A-Tree-Program. https://plantatree.fs.usda.gov/tree-donation
