William L. Slocum Jr.

William L. “Bill” Slocum Jr., 75, of Youngsville, PA, passed away on Thursday, March 30th, 2023 at UPMC Hamot Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 21, 1947 in Franklin, PA, a son to the late William L. And Dorothy J. (Shaffstall) Slocum Sr.  He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Connie (Lind) Slocum; two sons, Bryan (Glenda) Slocum of Lancaster, SC and Robert (Carly) Slocum of Irvine, PA; his grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Robinson of Camp Lejeune, NC and Austin and Alexis Slocum of Youngsville; his great-grandchildren, Jayden Adams and Annabelle Robinson; his niece that was more like a daughter, Colleen Robinson and her boys, Tyler and Landon Robinson of NC; a brother, Roger (Karen) Slocum of Corpus Christi, TX; 2 god-children, Jodi Harkins and Josh Sutton and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was a member of the Saron Lutheran Church. He currently worked as a substitute teacher for Warren County and previously, worked as the Public Works Forman and then the Manager of the Youngsville Boro for many years. Bill also served as a PA State Senator for 1 term. He was well known for coaching several youth sports for all of 50 years, mostly in Youngsville.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Isabelle Robinson and a brother, Leslie E. Slocum.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 3rd, from 4-7pm at the Saron Lutheran Church, 148 W. Main St, Youngsville, PA 16371. A funeral Service will be held there on Tuesday at 11am with the Rev. Nancy Schwanke, pastor, officiating.
