William “Bill” George Carlett (1939-2023)
Bill, Dad, Papa (age: 84) of Youngsville, PA took a journey to be with loved ones on November 3, 2023 in Warren, PA after a valiant battle with cancer. “In his own words”, he was born in a chicken coop on North Main St. in Youngsville, Pa on January 5, 1939 to the late Henry “Hank” Carlett and Charlotte Carroll Carlett.
Bill graduated from Youngsville High School in 1956 and attended Jamestown Community College.
He worked at the National Forge Company, retiring as Marketing Manager in 1997 after 38 years of service. He also worked as a local realtor for many years.
He was a past member of the Saron Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge 547, local Lions, Kiwanis, Eagles, Moose clubs, Youngsville Borough Planning commission, chairman of the Youngsville Zoning and Hearing Board, President of the Youngsville Sports Booster, coach for the boys Hot Stove baseball league, coach for Ladies Valley Softball League.
Bill is survived by his children, Bob Carlett (Cathy) of Summerville, SC, Vonnie Carlett (Lin) of Youngsville PA, Suzanne Turner (Ron) of Youngsville, PA, his grandchildren, Katie Carlett of Springdale, PA, Zach Turner of Jacksonville, FL, Nate Carlett of Summerville, SC, Brodie Turner (Tiara) and great-granddaughter, Avery, of Youngsville, PA. He is also survived by his two brothers Jim Carlett (Paula) of Lakeland, FL and Tim Carlett of Austin, TX.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Anita Holcomb Carlett, in 2004.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 5-7 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 314 North Main St in Youngsville and a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 11 am. Pastor Nancy Schwanke will officiate. Memorials may be made to Friends of the Rouse (Rouse.org), National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, (www.npcf.us) or a charity of your choice.
