Minnie Elizabeth (Bowser) McMillen, 96, of Sugar Grove, passed away Tuesday morning, October 10, 2017 at her home.

She was born September 14, 1921 in Rayburn Township, PA, a daughter to the late Lee Alonza and Nora Violet (Mauthe) Bowser. Elizabeth was a member of the Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church where she was very active in the church. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, a Sunday School Teacher and Board President. She also was a 4-H Leader, Cub Scout Leader, member of the Sugar Grove AMVETS Auxiliary and was very active in the Hill & Dale Garden Club. Elizabeth enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening, crafting and taking walks through the woods. She also enjoyed working on family history. She was a devout Christian and loved preaching to everyone that came through her door and in the last few years, attended church through her favorite television program. At age 94, a living wake was held at the Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church, pastor Sandra Howles conducted the service and Elizabeth read her own eulogy. A lunch followed the service where she spent time celebrating her life with family and friends.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Betty Lee (Floyd) Flasher of Chandlers Valley, Linda Mae (Don) Cross of Chandlers Valley, Grover Paige (Becky) McMillen of Sugar Grove and Mary Jane (John) Rodgers of Chandlers Valley; a sister, Violet Jean Nelson of Starbrick, 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Raymond McMillen Sr., they are now together again. She was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond McMillen Jr., a brother, Norman Lee Bowser and a sister, Sara Jane Sustrich.

No services will be held at this time, a gathering will be announced at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church, 9215 Jackson Run Road, Chandlers Valley, PA 16312 or to Hospice of Warren County, PO Box 68, Warren, PA 16365.

Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Elizabeth was one of the nicest, loving, lady that I have been blessed to know and I always enjoyed our chats. Know that she is with her loved ones, no more pain, no more suffering, at peace. Love to all!!

So sad to learn about your mother, Minnie. She was such a dear person and any time spent with her was sweet. She always had a smile for all. She will be missed.
